I am so excited!
This Fall I am going to be teaching preschool from my house!
This isn't my first time.
I've taught Preschool from my home in California and in Hawaii.
What's the difference is this time?
1- I don't have my own preschool age child.
2- I am having to start from scratch!
When we moved from Hawaii- I gave away all my "preschool" things.
(My youngest is 7 so I thought we were out of that phase. Rightly so!)
Last year, having all my kids in school full time, I thought it was the perfect time to get a job outside the home. I really looked forward to meeting people in our new community, making friends, getting involved. So on top of volunteering at the elementary school, I worked Part-time (sign language) Interpreting at UVU and filled the rest of my time by being a Substitute teacher at the elementary school and junior high.
It didn't take me long to figure out- I would rather spend my mornings with cute 4 year olds- than substitute teach 14 year olds. (Hat's off to public school teachers and their subs!) Plus- now that my boys are older--- I really miss that age group.
It makes sense too.
I have a degree in Early Childhood Education.
So I thought I would blog about this process- setting up a home base preschool.
Maybe there are some of you in the blog sphere- thinking about starting your own Preschool.
You can read about my experience- and it will hopefully help you as you start your own~!
